Please join us Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11am for “The Times of Joy”: a one man performance of a play about surviving the Irish Potato famine of 1845-1849.
Dr. Richard O’Meara, retired US Army General and current Stockton University professor will enact his play which tells one man’s story of surviving the disastrous failure of Ireland’s potato crop in 1845. The crop failure in successive years was caused by late blight due to a water mold. The resulting famine left about 1 million dead and caused an estimated 2 million to emigrate to America and elsewhere.
